T’was the Night Before Christmas!
Many thanks to pupils from our four local schools (St Alfege, Meridian, St Matthews and James Wolfe) proudly told the tale of ‘T’was the Night Before Christmas’ with their lanterns at the Greenwich Lantern Procession on Wednesday 23 November.
Their beautiful lanterns, all handmade by the children - with just a little help from ArtyParty - included Santa, his sleigh and reindeer, the famous Christmas mouse, stockings, trees, presents, stars and the moon. Led by the jazz band, Tunnel Chops from Trinity Laban with The Mayor Councillor Olu Babatola, and Hugh Player, Director of Greenwich Hospital, the parade made its happy way through the grounds of the ORNC, round The Cutty Sark , through the town centre and into our gloriously refurbished Market. Before the countdown, opera singer Joanna Forest beautifully sang 'Oh Holy Night'. The big Christmas Lights On in the Market was led by CBeebies presenter Sarah-Jane Honeywell, characters from this year’s Greenwich Theatre pantomime, Peter Pan, and Father Christmas. After the big countdown, with the Market lit up in true splendour, everyone enjoyed tasty Waitrose mince pies.
Thanks to you all for a fantastic night!
