Memoirs of Njeri
llustrator, print and textile designer. Young lady from Kenya.
My vision is to “play with life by playing with colour.” My work has always been inspired by everyday life and I seek to bring joy to people through my art. I recently graduated with a MA degree in Textile Design from Chelsea School of Art, which enabled me to refine my style and ‘find myself’ as an illustrator and printed textile designer. Through ‘The Art of Carrying’, my master’s thesis work, I used my illustrations inspired by real life interviews to bring awareness to the strong African women who gracefully carry their loads on their heads. At the same time the illustrations are playful and chic, using vibrant and luminous colours.
